# Wireless Connection

> Connect your device to MinkMap over WiFi after completing the initial USB setup.

After your first USB connection, MinkMap enables wireless access automatically. You can connect on future visits without a cable.

<Note>
  USB is only required the very first time you connect a device. All subsequent connections can be made over WiFi.
</Note>

## How it works

When you complete the [first USB connection](/guides/connect-device), MinkMap configures your device for wireless pairing. From that point on, your device will appear in the dropdown on minkmap.com whenever it's on the same WiFi network as your computer — no cable needed.

## Connect wirelessly

  </Step>
</Steps>

## Troubleshooting

<Tip>
  If your device doesn't appear in the dropdown, reconnect once via USB to re-establish the wireless link. After that, WiFi should work again.
</Tip>

Make sure your computer's firewall isn't blocking the MinkMap helper app, and confirm both devices are on the same network (not a guest network or different band).
