# Developer Mode

> Enable Developer Mode on your iPhone or iPad — a one-time setup required for MinkMap to work.

MinkMap requires Developer Mode to be enabled on your iOS device. This is a one-time setup built into iOS.

  You only need to do this once. After enabling Developer Mode, it stays on until you manually turn it off.

## Enable Developer Mode

<Steps>
  <Step title="Connect your device via USB">
    Plug your iPhone or iPad into your computer using a USB cable.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Trust the computer on your device">
    When your device prompts you with **Trust This Computer?**, tap **Trust** and enter your passcode if asked.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Open Settings">
    On your device, open the **Settings** app.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Go to Privacy & Security">
    Scroll down and tap **Privacy & Security**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Tap Developer Mode">
    Scroll to the bottom of the page and tap **Developer Mode**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Toggle Developer Mode on">
    Tap the **Developer Mode** toggle to turn it on. iOS will warn you that Developer Mode reduces security — tap **Restart** to continue.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Restart your device">
    Your device will restart. After it boots back up, you'll see a prompt asking you to confirm Developer Mode — tap **Turn On**.
